#The past few weeks we have been busily preparing for our first ever Cat Appreciation Day at your local vet clinic in Poughkeepsie & Dutchess County, N.Y., which we held this past Sunday, June 29th.
June is adopt a cat month so we were happily joined by Mid-Hudson Animal Aid for this special occasion. We had a tent with free refreshments and face-painting setup outside our office and attracted a lot of attention from Route 55 with balloons all over the place and Dr. Cannan in our parking lot hula-hooping!
We had 21 visitors in total, not including the DCAH Team Members and Mid-Hudson Animal Aid Volunteers. We handed out goody bags filled with cat treats, cat toys, and useful information regarding cat health. We also offered discounted rabies vaccines and microchips for cats only on this day. We had 2 microchips and 1 rabies vaccine administered. Mid-Hudson Animal Aid brought a total of 15 felines – 10 kittens and 5 adults. They were all very cute but the kittens stole the show, as you can see in the photos. Mid-Hudson Animal Aid was able to connect 3 kittens with their new forever families. Anyone who adopted a kitten was inundated with freebies from both Mid-Hudson Animal Aid and The Dutchess County Animal Hospital, including crinkly cat tunnels, laser toys, pens, tote bags, and cat toys. One of their adult cats, Eleanor Rigby, hit it off with our staff and Mid-Hudson Animal Aid asked if she could stay with us for a while for a change of scenery and to meet some new people. She’s a small and snuggly female cat who loves to purr and cuddle. Eleanor has a charming disposition and an easy going personality. Eleanor gets along well with other cats. She is an excellent lap cat and would be a great companion for a senior citizen. Eleanor is spayed and up to date on her shots. She is FIV+. She’s up for adoption so please stop by the office and visit her and check out her photo, below!
We hope to make Cat Appreciation Day an annual event at our vet clinic in Poughkeepsie & Dutchess County, N.Y. so please make sure to keep your eyes on your email and our Facebook page, Blog, and Website for this and all upcoming events at DCAH!
We also hope to hold a Dog Appreciation Day in the fall so “stay tuned” for more information!
